Flexible Mechanisms

Flexible mechanisms were core issues of the Kyoto Protocol for the achievement of reduction commitments.
The basic concept of all three mechanisms is the same: the ability to carry out emission-reducing measures where their costs are lowest.
The flexible mechanisms can be distinguished as follows:
- The project-related instruments: Joint Implementation and the Clean Development Mechanism.
- International Emissions Trading between the parties of the Kyoto Protocol.
In Austria, the project-related instruments are implemented under its JI/CDM Programme.
